This is One Insanely Early Piece of Holiday Spirit I Can Get Behind

November 11, 2009

John Galliano will be designing a Christmas tree that will be displayed in the London hotel, Claridges. Unsurprisingly, Galliano will forgo the tired red and green combination (because when has Dior ever embraced anything passé, dahling?) and will instead be creating a more tropical approach.

The tree will be sparkling white, but that’s where the traditional characteristics stop. It will be adorned with crystals, orchids, silver and blue vines, and a leopard sleeping on one of the branches (duh).

According to Galliano in WWD, “I want to combine the festive with the innovative, the spirit of Dior with the beauty of Claridge’s and create something spectacular that will inspire.”

Well, if a gigantic Dior Christmas tree can’t inspire,  then I just don’t know what will. The tree is being unveiled on December 1st and will stay on display in the hotel foyer until January 6th.
