Cooking the Book

November 16, 2009

I just found this amazing premier video of a series called Cooking the Book, which is based at The Awl. Our hostess, Emily Gould, cooks a recipe that’s related to a guest author’s book who joins her in the kitchen. As they create, they manage to slip in some conversation about the book as well. In this episode, Emily is joined by Bennet Madison, who wrote a young adult novel called The Blonde of the Joke. Since it’s set largely in a mall, the two bake cinnamon buns, which end up looking absolutely delicious. Part cooking show, part book club, this series tickles all of my fancies. Check it out:

Emily Gould is of Gawker, right? I never expected her (maybe I mean here voice) to be so…nice.
