Thursdays With The Girls

I am very much in love with this new website called Thursdays. Ever since they were sophomores in college, a group of girlfriends got together every Thursday night to cook dinner together, watch TV, do a craft and, of course, catch up. They always strove to keep it simple and cheap: no six course meals with unheard of ingredients, no seemingly impossible crafting adventure leaving you with severed thumbs and dreams. The purpose was always first and foremost to take some time to see each other, no boys allowed.

Now, two of the girls, Colleen and Stephania, have started a website where faraway friends and strangers alike can feel like they are part of the fun. It can also be used as a resource and/or inspiration to host your own Thursdays. Each week they post what recipe and craft they’re doing with directions so we can follow along. It just recently launched, so I’m assuming they also post after their gathering to tell us how it went. Whats even more helpful about the site is, just in case your week is just too jam-packed to plan your meeting, they also offer a shop and guidance services. I think their starter kits are absolutely adorable.

I’ve always wanted to have a tradition like this (although I was thinking more along the lines of monthly instead of weekly) except I haven’t stayed in the same place for more than three months for the past three years, and it’s just so hard to find the time. This site is getting me inspired again, though. Something like this is so important, especially in the fast-paced, plugged-in world today.
