Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton Succeeds (And Then Some)

October 6, 2010

Yesterday was the first Alexander McQueen runway show designed by Sarah Burton, who took over the position after McQueen’s death earlier this year. I can only imagine how nervewracking backstage must have been, knowing that the entire fashion world was waiting to judge her every move on a much more emotional level than perhaps any other show this season. After seeing the pictures, my highly-qualified judgement says that she is clearly the perfect choice for his successor. The show was beautiful and, in my eyes, a seamless transition that still carried on the McQueen trademark Gothic romanticism. The final gowns were breathtaking, and the fabrics throughout were stunning. There was no question in my mind what show I was looking at. Here’s to many more stellar shows, Sarah.
