Currently Squeeing Over: Greetings From Mochimochi

October 8, 2010

A teeny gallery called Hanahou in Soho is hosting Anna Hrachovec’s first solo show, and it is the cutest thing ever! This knitter is responsible for the book, Knitting Mochimochi, which is the knit equivalent of amigurumi. The exhibit shows the knitted world of Mochimochi, complete with moving knitted train that roams around the tracks throughout the land. The world is focused on a large, center table, but look carefully and you’ll find elements of the show all over the room, even crawling up the walls! A few stand-out characters are the shifty gnomes, the capitalist pandas and the ants hoarding candy corn. Some of the cuteness on display is from patterns in her book, but the creation also has new works as well. It is chock full of adorable, and definitely worth stopping in to check out if you’re in the nighborhood.
