Every Person in New York

I absolutely love this blog, Every Person in New York, by Jason Polan. His goal is to draw -you guessed it- every person in New York, and the result has the amazing ability to truly capture the energy and atmosphere of the city. His subjects are mostly everyday folk doing everyday things (but he occasionally spots a celebrity) and the different characters and activities he captures as well as the style in which he draws them (ranging from full-blown illustrations to hasty line sketches) manages to create not just a portrait of the individual people, but of New York City as a whole. I could spend hours scrolling through the archives. These highlights are from the first page alone.

Ok, so maybe “highlights” wasn’t the right word, because I couldn’t choose just a few great ones and basically copied 90% of the first page…

But whatever, because I still artfully arranged them in descending order of chaos.
