Minimalism My Way

March 9, 2011

I’ve never appreciated a minimalist aesthetic. It’s not that I dislike it, it’s just that it bores me. But, every now and then I look at a minimalist show and think, “That’s nice.” You can’t ignore impeccable construction, which so often permeates the collections of minimalist designers. Two designers that consistently show minimalism in a way that catches my eye are Doo.ri and Helmut Lang. Their clothes have just enough of an edge to make them interesting.

I loved the palette of grays in Doo.ri’s collection, and I absolutely need one of those huge comfy scarves.

Helmut Lang, as always, infused minimalism with a touch of androgyny with their asymmetry and rough edges.

Good God.
